Tip 53: Get inspired by broadening your vision

'Nothing has such power to broaden the mind as the ability to investigate systematically and truly all that comes under thy observation in life.' Marcus Aurelius

Does this sound familiar to you? Sometimes, it feels as if you have come to a dead end. Existing literature, blogs, articles and other material keep feeding you with the same information. You feel that you have read everything that has been said on a topic even if different people keep repeating it in different words.

I think that everyone who has a passion in a specific topic knows what I'm talking about. There is an abundance of information out there but in the end, you hardly get any really new, disruptive information if you have studied a topic in depth for a couple of months.

If you have come to such a dead end, here is what you can do: Start broadening your field of vision and get inspired by completely different areas. Let me give you an example: If, for example, you are working in HR, being responsible for Employer Branding topics, you might reach out to your Product Marketing colleagues to understand how Product Marketing actually works. After that you draw parallels between your Employer Branding activities and the activities of your colleagues. What is in common, what is different and most importantly: What can you learn from Product Marketing that might also work in selling your employer?

Now, it's up to you: Which areas could inspire you doing your current job?
